Dear Worried, It’s very sad that someone has infringed on your enjoyment and safety in your new home. Unfortunately, police can not do much unless they know who is involved and if a crime is committed — however, continue to report any events as this serves as a record for them later if something more serious was to happen.
Keep in mind that people tend to react when they are ignorant or have beliefs that cause them to hate instead of love. Your neighbour — whoever they are — might never have had any real interactions with queer folks before.
This may be an opportunity for you to educate them that there is nothing to be afraid of. Be a good neighbour, get involved with your local community, be polite and perhaps this person will see that there is nothing to fear.
