Gay sporting hero Tom Daley Announces Retirement!

Olympic diving star Tom Daley has officially retired from competitive diving after an illustrious career spanned five Olympic Games. The 30-year-old athlete made the announcement upon his return to the UK after the Paris Games, marking the end of an era for British diving.

During his remarkable Olympic career, Tom Daley secured a total of five medals, including a gold and a bronze in Tokyo, a silver in Paris, and two bronzes in London and Rio. His most recent achievement was the silver medal in the synchronised 10m platform event in Paris alongside Noah Williams, contributing to Team GB's overall success at the Games.

In an emotional interview, Daley who served as the Team GB flag bearer at the opening ceremony, said it was the end of an era for him but that it was the right time to call it a day.

"It feels very, very surreal. I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics."

"There was a lot of pressure and expectations. I was eager for it to be done. But when I walked out and saw my husband (Lance) and kids (Robbie and Phoenix) and my friends and family in the audience, I was like, you know what? This is exactly why I did this. ...

"It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive. I want to be with my family. I'm really excited to be able to spend some time with them and just be able to feel a bit normal for a couple of days."
