A new totally FREE queer film festival hosted locally in Canberra is here. Celebrating stories written by and for the global LGBTIQA+ community, this festival brings together films that reflect our diverse experiences, identities and voices.

Canberra Queer Film Festival

The first free Queer film festival hosted locally in Canberra, organised by Diversity ACT with financial support from the Australian Capital Territory Office of LGBTIQA+ Affairs. A celebration of stories written by and for the global LGBTIQA+ community.

With the theme of “Our Stories, Our Love," the Canberra Queer Film Festival will celebrate colourful and diverse stories written by and for the LGBTIQA+ community and allies in Australia and around the world. This will also be the first queer film festival ever to be organised locally in Canberra.
 
Bringing back the Australian icon - The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - along with a selection of 2 international feature films and 14 short films from 13 countries worldwide. Among these, 10+ films will premiere to Australian audiences for the first time.

QUEERNESS AT THE INTERSECTION

Queerness at the Intersection (Shorts Collection). As we navigate through the complexity of life, our queer identity consistently interacts with different social changes, personal responsibilities, relationships, and emotions.

These could be the discrimination we have to endure just for being who we are, or the challenging conversations we have with our parents about acceptance. These could also be the unspoken dreams and hidden desires we couldn’t share with anyone else. Or sometimes, they can just be the resilience and bravery when we fight against our “destiny.”
