Thank you to Wayne C Style Photography for once again being a part of the Capital Queers family and capturing these wonderful photos of our 2023 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade entry.
Capital Queers is saying goodbye after 13 Years!
The creative team behind Canberra's own Capital Queers have made the decision after 13 years and 11 incredible floats that this will be our last annual entry into the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras for the foreseeable future.
We'd like to thank everyone who has helped us along the way from humble beginnings to these last few incredible floats that wrap up our time together.
Going out at your best is better than doing something you no longer enjoy and having the incredible work that is Mardi Gras be such a huge part of our lives for so long we're ready to take a step back and see what comes from the next generation of LGBTQIA+ Canberrans like what started with us in 2011.
The deepest gratitude to the 800+ people who have marched with us, our drivers, sponsors and every single person who lent a hand with a pair of scissors or a sewing machine at some point in time.
Special thanks to Fenkil, Alex, James, Wayne, Charity, Ben, Maxx, Mikey, Hugo, Michael, Mitch and Trung.
Love and Respect to Richard Allen and Campberra having been going for over 40 years and we're proud to have spent every year marching alongside you.
Our grandest moment was having ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr, his husband Anthony and Canberra's own rainbow bus with us in 2018 to celebrate Marriage Equality.
We wrap up this year joined by Johnathan Davis MLA proudly elected Greens member for Brindabella who was there with us at the very beginning too.
