It's time to start your queer-friendly bsky.social account

Bluesky Social has become a space where LGB and Trans communities can feel a sense of liberation and safety, offering a contrast to the harassment now found on other social media sites. Bluesky now has over 33 million registered users. (March 2025).
Bluesky's history begins as a research initiative conceptualised by then Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, aiming to create a decentralised social media network. It later became an independent company in 2021, gaining traction and launching its beta public version in 2023.
With Trump and his haters back in The White House, the big three social network giants are now actively following an anti-trans and LGBTIQ+ agenda. It's incredibly sad to see.
X is now losing followers by the fistful daily, with Elon Musk at the helm. Since Musk's rebranding of the iconic 'Twitter' social network — which literally introduced new words like "tweet" to the dictionary — the platform has become almost unbearable with its hard-right following and anti-trans agenda. Oh, and did we mention all those crazy conspiracy theories that fill the feed?
X has made several changes to its policies, including modifications to blocking functions, privacy settings, and AI training, with new terms of service allowing the platform to use user data for AI models, while also potentially making users liable for damages if they misuse the platform.
It has also removed its community safety guidelines and added a paid verification system that has defeated the purpose of the entire social ecosystem.
Bluesky has become a real social media alternative for LGBTIQ+ people, and its followers have increased by more than 50% since the US election.
