RAINBOW STORY TIME
The Sisters of Saint Joseph Federation in the state of New York, along with several other Catholic organisations, have published an open letter on Transgender Day of Visibility that wholeheartedly supports the Queer and Trans community. The letter also criticises the recent horrifying, oppressive and discriminatory legislation sweeping the USA.
Sexual attraction, in basic terms, means you find a specific person sexually appealing and want to have sex with them. Asexual people, who might use the term “ace” or “aces” for short, typically don’t experience sexual attraction or want to pursue sexual relationships with other people.
The legislation, which Amnesty International has called“appalling”, “ambiguous” and “vaguely worded”, establishes a range of harsh penalties for same-sex “offences” – including the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality”.
The worldwide online retailer amazon.com seems to have removed t-shirts that state “Trans Rights or Else” alongside the images of four rifles coloured in pink, white, and baby blue, which are the colours of the transgender flag.
A new project is being trialled in Amsterdam to provide a safe space for queer partygoers to get ready before a night out. Named ‘Dress and Dance’, the project has transformed a hair salon into a place where queer people can get hair and makeup styling from a team of professionals before jumping in a free taxi to their chosen nightclub.
