Hold onto your wigs and sequins! Stephan Elliott, the mastermind behind the cult classic "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," has officially announced a sequel, reuniting the original stars Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce, and Hugo Weaving.
Thirty years after the iconic film's release, the fabulous trio is back, ready to embark on a new, glittering adventure. Elliott teases that the new journey will be epic, promising a fresh exciting storyline that has everyone excited.
"The original cast is on board, I've got a script that everybody likes, we're still working out deals. … It's happening," Mr Elliott said.
“My great fear is that the legacy and the memory of the first one is tarnished by us silly bastards attempting to do something again, and it falls flat.... There’s a lot of sequels these days, but for something that’s unique and special for its time… I think we would have an element in our favor, and time is that element." Guy Pearce
The sequel will see the return of beloved characters Bernadette, Adam/Felicia, and Tick/Mitzi, along with a new generation of characters, including Tick's now-grown son. Expect a mix of classic disco hits and contemporary tunes, with potential Lady Gaga tracks to keep the party going.
With the rescue of the Priscilla bus from a rural property in New South Wales and the 30-anniversary celebrations in full swing, the timing, it seems, couldn't be better for this sequel. Elliott, who will direct, write, and produce, commented he is finalising deals to bring this long-awaited project to life.
Stay tuned for the official announcement, and get ready for Priscilla's next dazzling chapter!
