Relationships Question

My boyfriend keeps asking me to move in

Dear Lisa, Coming out is one of the most personal things that a person can do. It opens you up to a range of other people’s emotions, biases, presumptions and prejudices. To say it’s a tough gig is an understatement. If you ask some who’ve come out, they will tell you that it resulted in people they love rejecting them. For others, the experience was gentle and supportive. It could go either way. When contemplating coming out, you should prepare yourself that not everyone is going to greet the news with a celebration, and some people may hurt you. Your sexuality is one of the parts of who...

Sex Question

My boyfriend is particularly blessed

Dear Ben, Being well blessed comes with pros and cons, and if you are a newbie to this kind of relationship, you need to seek the appropriate advice regarding how to prepare yourself for that level of loving. We are lucky here in Australia that every state has a queer place to seek advice from. In the ACT it is Meridian, in NSW it’s ACON, in QLD it’s Queensland Council for LGBTI Health, and  so on. Relationship Question

My girlfriend prefers sleeping alone

Dear LJ, Wow, that was a short honeymoon. This might be a red flag — you need to quickly establish why your girlfriend wants to sleep alone. It could be that she is a light sleeper, maybe you toss and turn or snore, or perhaps she just wants to sleep alone. A conversation will give you both an opportunity to address the issue and devise a solution that works for both of you. If there is no practical reason why, then you need to ask yourself, do I want to be in a  long-term relationship with someone who doesn’t want to sleep in the same bed? It’s totally OK to bow out if this is a deal-bre...

It’s time we aligned sexual consent laws

Australian Federal Labor Senator Nita Green has moved to establish a Senate inquiry into sexual consent laws. These are the laws that describe how sexual consent is defined for rape and sexual assault offences. In Australia, these definitions differ across the states and territories, which causes inconsistencies and confusion, as well as complexities in sexual consent education.
