Same-sex marriage has been protected in USA by The US Supreme Court. The US Supreme Court has rejected a petition by Kim Davis, the former Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, to revisit the landmark ruling on marriage equality.
When Hugh Nini and Neal Treadwell discovered an old photograph of two men in love at an antique store in Dallas, Texas, 25 years ago, they had no idea how profoundly it would change their lives — and illuminate a hidden history. That single image sparked a global journey, taking them across the United States, Canada, Europe, the UK, Australia and Asia in search of photographs capturing men in love.
In 2017, photographer Jane Duong and producer Victoria Firth-Smith created Queerberra to document the lives of Canberra’s LGBTQIA+ community during one of the most emotionally charged moments in Australian queer history—the national postal vote on marriage equality.
As love became a national battleground, queer Canberrans turned to one another. Over weekends spent in bedrooms, workplaces, and on the streets, Duong and Firth-Smith captured portraits of pride, exhaustion, defiance, love, and hope.
